I’ve long had a love of this Woods Wallpaper.  I know it’s been around awhile but it has always seemed somewhat magical to me [my sister liked it so much she beat me too it].  I thought of using it my small front entry way.  But I have to say this is my favorite use of this wallpaper yet.  Gorgeous lined down the hallway… like you are walking through a forest.  I have quite a long hallway that currently has trim in the center of the wall with cream paint above the trim and brown below.  I’m so desperate to change it that I’ve come close to going out and buying paint as of last week.  However, after I saw this, I just might have to save my pennies.

PS- This hallway belongs to Christiane Lemieux + I love every inch of it.

It’s Christmas time.  Like officially and for real.  I’m finally in full swing now that Halloween and Thanksgiving have come and gone, that is.  Lovelies, I have so many ideas swirling around in my head.  So much so that these thoughts of mine are starting to give me a brain ache.  The real problem is, I don’t have the time nor sadly the energy to excute them all.  There are so many ideas to share and conversations to be had on this subject of Christmas [think : decor, presents, food, traditions and so on].  So in advance, I warn you that my post schedule may be on the random side this merry month.  Maybe more often and maybe just not.  All of my Christmas post titles will start with fa la la because, honestly, I can’t help a good play on words, even if it is cheezy.

Ok, so lets start with first things first.  Advent calendars.  Do you do an Advent calendar with your kids?  Did your family have them when you were a kid?  As a child they were always somewhat random for me.  Just the occasional paper one that was given to us or bought on a whim.  But truely, I tell you, it didn’t really matter how un-special they were I always loved them.  There is just something about opening the little paper doors and seeing the picture inside.  Or, if you’re so lucky, eating the piece of chocolate that awaits.  But really, I think, the true excitement is all to do with the countdown.  Kids love a countdown and especially to Christmas.

In our house we have a wooden Christmas tree Advent calendar with little ornaments hiding in their petite doors awaiting their big day in which they will be hung proudly on the outside of the miniature door.  It’s nothing fancy.  And honestly, I look at it each year thinking how I’d like to get rid of it all together and get a more stylish one.  But each year, I think of how my kids have opened these doll sized doors each and every December day with such great anticipation and I somehow can’t part with it.  It’s one of those pieces that I know they will equate with their “childhood” Christmas.  Kind of like the very cute + ugly Santa made of dough that to this day makes its debut every Christmas season.

You can, of course, get your DIY on and make some pretty crafty and creative Advent calendars, ones that are pretty and ones that have deep meaning.  Here are a few of my favorites from around the interwebs.  Instead of switching mine out [as again, this year, I planned to do], I plan to add a very different kind to our holiday mix.

11.22.2011 / Writing on the Wall

I’ve showed you, before, how my sister likes to draw all over her walls.  This time it is a Narwhal on the wall [which one of her roommates actually drew].  I kind of love it.  My sister decorates unconventionally but I think that is what I like so much.  She does things I would never even think of and surely would never try  [although I was the one that led her in the direction of the tree wallpaper].  She is the free spirit that I always wish to be.

I’m definitely ready to take some decorating risks this year.  What about you?  Is there anything you have been wanting to try for sometime?

10.18.2011 / tailored slouchiness

I NEED one of these couches.  I have been needing [wanting] one for quite some time.  They are like the epitomy of tailored slouchiness.  If a couch was an oxymoron this would be it.  Crazy good, right?!

10.17.2011 / earthy

Happy Monday, lovelies!  I love fall.  I have to say it is probably my favorite season.  I love the crisp air. Falling leaves.  Apple cider donuts.  Colorful leaves.  Cozy blankets.  Sweaters + boots.  And . . . earthy tones.  Lately, fall or no fall, I’m feeling the earthy vibe.  I’m inspired by all of the above images in a big way.  To me, this is the new fall decor.

I’m loving this idea for stairs.  All I need is a two story house.  This was a feature in the new HGTV magazine.  Have you checked it out yet?  I really kind of liked it.  Especially the idea that when they do a house tour no closet or drawer is off limits (wonder if any will every be messy?).  That is what we all want to see, right?

I’m also loving the little face made on this chest.  And of course, loving the fabulous wallpaper, by Fine Little Day .
